Frequently Asked Questions

What is WaterBunny?

WaterBunny is a hydration tracking app for iOS. Log your water intake throughout the day and watch your chosen animal silhouette fill up as you hit your daily goal. The app integrates with Apple Health to store your data and sends optional reminders to keep you on track.

Is WaterBunny free to use?

WaterBunny is free to download and includes everything you need to track your daily water intake — including water logging, the Bunny theme, day-level insights, Siri shortcuts, and hydration reminders. A one-time Pro upgrade unlocks additional animal themes, Week/Month/Year insights, electrolyte tracking, and the ability to edit past entries.

Does WaterBunny collect my personal data?

No. WaterBunny was built with a privacy-first architecture. All personal data (entries, settings, electrolyte logs) is stored exclusively on your device. We do not require accounts or logins and we never sell your data. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

How does Apple Health integration work?

WaterBunny can read and write dietary water, caffeine, and electrolyte data to Apple Health. This is entirely optional — you control HealthKit permissions through your device’s Settings and can revoke access at any time. If HealthKit is unavailable (or on unsupported devices), WaterBunny stores your entries locally.

Does WaterBunny work without Apple Health?

Yes. On devices where HealthKit is unavailable, or if you choose to skip authorization, WaterBunny stores all entries locally on your device. All features remain functional.

How does my progress reset each day?

Your daily progress resets at midnight. The app detects when midnight passes (even if it was running in the background) and resets your count automatically — no restart needed.

How do I undo a logged entry?

Tap the Undo button on the Track screen to remove your most recent entry. If the entry is more than 10 minutes old, a confirmation alert will appear first. You can also swipe left on any entry in today’s timeline to remove it.

Can I log caffeine and electrolytes?

Yes. When logging water, you can optionally add a caffeinated drink (Tea, Espresso, Latte, Energy Drink, or Coffee) or — with Pro — an electrolyte product. Both water and the additional data are written to Apple Health together in a single action.

What are the animal themes?

WaterBunny includes nine free animal themes: Bunny, Bear, Horse, Crocodile, Octopus, Shark, Sloth, Walrus, and Mystery (which randomizes daily). Additional animal themes are available with the Pro upgrade. Selecting a theme changes both the on-screen silhouette and the app icon.

How do I set up hydration reminders?

Go to Settings → Reminders and turn on the master toggle. You can choose a frequency (every 1, 2, or 3 hours), a start and end hour, and a message tone — Normal, Snarky, Cute, Motivational, Funny, Zen, Science, or All. Reminders fire at :55 past each scheduled hour and are suppressed on days you’ve already hit your goal.

How do I use WaterBunny with Siri?

WaterBunny supports four Shortcuts actions: Log Water, Log Drink, Log Caffeinated Drink, and View Today’s Intake. You can use these via Siri voice commands, add them to the Shortcuts app, or trigger them from the notification quick-action button. All four work without opening the app.

How do I delete my data?

Because WaterBunny requires no account, there is no server-side data to delete. To remove all local app data, uninstall WaterBunny from your device. To remove data written to Apple Health, open the Health app, navigate to the relevant data type, and delete the entries there.

What permissions does WaterBunny need?

All permissions are optional and requested only when needed:

I found a bug or have a feature request. How do I report it?
